The Martins family share a home, a precarious sense of security and very different ideas about the future. Wellington invests his hopes in his son’s football career, while Deivinho imagines a life connected to science and distant planets. Tércia tries to recover her equilibrium after an unsettling experience. Eunice, meanwhile, is falling in love with a woman and considering a future beyond the family household. Each person’s ambitions press against obligations that are both loving and restrictive. Gabriel Martins’s Brazilian ensemble drama gives the daughter’s romance and independence a substantial place alongside the other family stories, tracing how private dreams survive within an anxious and unequal political moment.
