Bertie lives in the south of France with her husband Fred, but the beautiful surroundings have not resolved the difficulties affecting her music and sense of direction. When Lane, a former lover who once shared their relationship, arrives unexpectedly, an apparently relaxed reunion brings old hurts back into view. Lane’s presence promises familiarity and disruption in equal measure, and Bertie cannot simply step back into the arrangement they once knew. Encounters with Noa, a younger artist visiting the area, further unsettle the balance between them. Over meals, music and long summer days, the women negotiate attraction, resentment and different expectations of freedom. The question becomes whether returning to an old intimacy can offer a new beginning, or only repeat its unfinished conflicts.
