Annabelle arrives at a Catholic boarding school with little patience for its rules or the expectations attached to her family name. Her poetry teacher, Simone, is drawn to the student's confidence while struggling with a life organised around restraint and responsibility. Their connection becomes increasingly difficult to keep within appropriate boundaries, placing Simone's professional obligations in direct conflict with her feelings. Katherine Brooks's drama centres the relationship between the two women while following the unequal power and serious consequences surrounding it. Within the enclosed school, privacy is fragile and a decision that appears personal can affect far more than either woman is willing to acknowledge.
