Taylor has agreed to spend Christmas with her family, who are finally ready to meet her girlfriend. Unfortunately, that relationship has already ended, and she would rather avoid arriving with another explanation for why her private life has gone wrong. Olive, an aspiring actress short of money, sees an unexpected opportunity in an advertisement for someone to play the missing partner. The arrangement seems straightforward: travel together, tell a convincing story and survive the holiday. Familiar questions and unfamiliar intimacy soon make the performance harder to control. Alexandra Swarens’s romantic comedy follows two strangers discovering what they want while trying to convince everyone else that they already have it.
