Liberty Smith has grown up in a conservative religious household, where her singing and public image make her an appealing symbol for a political campaign. Working with Nikki Levine, a strategist responsible for shaping that image, brings her into contact with a woman whose confidence unsettles her familiar world. Their attraction develops within a campaign that depends on presenting a much simpler version of Liberty to the public. As private feelings collide with professional expectations, music becomes part of a story about the difficulty of being both a person and a symbol. The romantic comedy follows two women trying to acknowledge what they want while surrounded by people who have already decided what their relationship should mean.
