Mati knows how to hold her place among the boys who race motorbikes around her Austrian hometown. Their swagger offers a familiar kind of protection, even when it depends on making other people feel small. With the end of school approaching, the friendships and family routines that once seemed settled begin shifting. Her closest friend wants their relationship to become something else, while spending time with Carla opens a possibility Mati has not prepared herself to consider. At home, her parents are also struggling with the distance between the lives they present and the things they want. Katharina Mückstein’s coming-of-age drama brings these private contradictions together as Mati searches for a way forward that belongs to her.
