Gil Boksoon can assess a dangerous assignment with remarkable precision. Understanding her teenage daughter is a different challenge. While her professional life depends on an unforgiving contract-killing organization, Jae-young is navigating school, secrecy and feelings that she cannot easily share at home. Their difficulties run alongside one another, with each woman withholding important truths in the belief that doing so will protect the relationship. When Boksoon’s work and responsibilities as a parent come into conflict, the distance between them becomes harder to maintain. This action thriller gives its mother-and-daughter story a substantial queer thread through Jae-young, whose experience asks what acceptance might look like when both people are afraid of being known.
