Justine moves through Brighton with sharp intelligence and little belief that the world has anything to offer her. Drinking and time with her friend Peach provide temporary ways to escape, while the professionals assigned to help her struggle to reach her. Meeting Rachel unsettles that defensive routine. Their attraction creates a possibility of affection and a future Justine has found difficult to imagine, but the habits that protect her from disappointment also threaten their connection. As closeness exposes old pain, she must confront feelings that cannot be resolved simply by falling in love. The drama follows a young woman caught between the desire to change her life and the fear that hope itself may become another source of hurt.
