Maya and Jules are trying to find their way through young adulthood in Texas when a night out ends in a car wreck. Freddy, an oil worker whose own life has narrowed into solitude, finds them and becomes part of what follows. Physical recovery does not resolve the questions already present in the women’s relationship, and Maya begins looking for steadiness in an unexpected friendship. Daniel Laabs’s drama moves between young queer lives and an older man’s isolation without making either a simple answer to the other. Parties, ordinary work and stretches of empty space become the setting for tentative connections. At its centre is Maya’s effort to understand what remains possible when the life she expected with another person begins to change.
