Jenny has allowed her conservative family to believe that her partner Kitty is simply her roommate. Their wish to marry makes that arrangement impossible to sustain. Telling the truth requires Jenny to challenge the image her relatives have constructed of her, while Kitty must consider what it means to remain hidden within someone else’s family life. Reactions range from confusion to resistance, exposing assumptions that have gone unexamined for years. The wedding becomes a point around which each family member must decide how to respond to change. This domestic drama follows the uneven work of recognition, asking how affection can become meaningful support when accepting a daughter requires giving up a comfortable misunderstanding of who she is.
