Jill is determined to prove that she has changed, even when her feelings refuse to cooperate with the identity she is trying to perform. Convinced that seeing former girlfriend Jamie will demonstrate that their attraction is gone, she proposes a reunion built on a questionable premise. Jamie agrees despite her misgivings, and the encounter quickly becomes more revealing than either woman expects. Around them, friends and acquaintances offer their own competing ideas about gender, desire and what a relationship should look like. Michelle Ehlen’s comedy uses Jill’s increasingly elaborate attempts at self-denial to examine the distance between labels and lived experience. Beneath the awkward plans and comic misunderstandings is the possibility of being honest with someone else, beginning with being honest about oneself.
