Lauren returns to her mother’s Oklahoma home after the death of her girlfriend, uncertain how to move through grief in a place where parts of her life have never been easily understood. Family routines provide shelter without necessarily offering comfort. The arrival of her brother and his girlfriend Carrie introduces a new source of distraction and attraction. As Lauren and Carrie spend time together, their growing intimacy becomes a way of escaping pressures that have not actually disappeared. Their connection carries consequences for the family around them as well as for Lauren’s attempt to begin again. The film follows desire in the unsettled space between mourning a relationship and being ready to build another one.
