Nina lives on the edges of Berlin, moving through institutional care, temporary work and a city that offers little sense of belonging. Meeting the more volatile Toni opens a fragile possibility of closeness, and Nina begins to imagine a shared life beyond her isolation. Their connection is complicated by a French woman searching for a daughter who disappeared years earlier and who sees in Nina a chance to recover the past. As these needs overlap, recognition and desire become difficult to separate from projection. Christian Petzold’s drama follows a young woman reaching for love while other people try to decide who she should be.
