Anne is a high-school student whose feelings for Sasha, a popular member of the school’s softball team, begin to change the way she understands herself. The attraction is exciting and uncertain, made more complicated by the people who already expect a particular place in Anne’s life. When she confides in her friend Clifton, his response introduces another pressure she is not prepared to manage. Sasha has her own concerns about how closeness will be seen and what it might require. Following the shifting perspectives around a first crush, the film explores the uneven process of recognizing desire, finding words for it and discovering that other people may not respond with the care someone needs.
