Since her sister disappeared, Jax has been caring for her niece Roki on the Seneca-Cayuga reservation in Oklahoma. She keeps searching while trying to preserve the routines and cultural connections that still give the girl a sense of home. When authorities threaten to separate them, the two set out on a journey toward a powwow where Roki hopes to find her mother. Along the way, Jax must navigate a world that questions her ability to care for the child even as it offers little help with the disappearance. Erica Tremblay’s drama centres a queer Indigenous woman whose resourcefulness and commitment hold a family together under mounting pressure.
