Ellie knows who she wants to ask to the school formal, but finding the courage to approach Abbie is another matter. Her preparations become stranger when the ghost of her aunt Tara appears, eager to offer guidance drawn from her own experiences as a lesbian. Tara’s confidence does not always translate into useful advice for a teenager trying to navigate a contemporary crush. As Ellie negotiates romantic nerves and family tensions, she begins to discover that her aunt’s story is part of a history she has not fully understood. The comedy brings adolescent awkwardness together with the lives and losses of an earlier generation, letting a simple invitation become a conversation about love, memory, and being able to live openly.
