Elisa and Marcela meet in Galicia and form a bond that grows beyond friendship. The society around them offers no straightforward way to live openly as a couple, and separation only deepens their determination to remain together. When they attempt to make a shared life, gossip and institutional authority turn private affection into a public struggle. Elisa adopts a male identity so that the women can marry, setting in motion consequences neither love nor ingenuity can fully control. Inspired by the real women whose 1901 marriage challenged the rules around them, this black-and-white period drama follows desire through secrecy, resistance and sacrifice. Its focus is the relationship itself: the small moments that sustain it and the extraordinary decisions demanded by a world unwilling to recognise it.
