María García runs a tequila factory that has long been part of her community’s identity. Foreign competition, financial strain and problems in production are making that position harder to defend. Hiring Rafaela brings practical assistance and an intense personal interest that María does not easily express. Around the factory, ordinary working lives continue even as its future becomes less secure. Juan Pablo González’s drama combines an attentive portrait of place with a study of a woman accustomed to authority who finds herself increasingly unable to control events. María’s desire is part of that larger emotional landscape, present without turning the relationship into a simple promise of escape from the pressures surrounding her.
