Drea’s social position collapses after a betrayal she cannot quietly absorb. Eleanor arrives at the same private school carrying a grievance of her own, tied to a humiliating experience after coming out. Their solution is a secret alliance: each will take revenge on the person who hurt the other. Reinvention makes the arrangement possible, but it also introduces new loyalties and opportunities to misread one another. Eleanor’s attraction to Gabbi gives the plan an emotional complication that does not fit its clean exchange of targets. Jennifer Kaytin Robinson’s dark teen comedy follows two protagonists who treat control as a defence against shame, until the stories they have told start turning against them.
