Across three connected stories in Montana, women navigate work, family and encounters that offer no easy resolution. A lawyer struggles to manage a demanding client, a woman negotiates the building of a home, and a ranch worker finds unexpected company in an evening class. The rancher is drawn to Beth, the young lawyer teaching the course after a long commute, and begins to shape her routine around their brief conversations. What that connection means to each woman is not necessarily the same. Attentive to small gestures and the space between people, the film gives the rancher’s attraction an intimate place within a wider portrait of women trying to make themselves understood.
