Ashley and Veronica knew each other in college, but their adult lives have taken them into different social and economic worlds. Ashley is an artist struggling to find support for her work, while Veronica has the advantages and frustrations of a more comfortable life. An encounter at a party rekindles old hostility and escalates into violence with consequences neither can easily contain. Their rivalry continues as circumstances change, exposing how quickly sympathy and resentment can follow a reversal of fortune. Ashley’s relationship with her girlfriend is part of the personal world caught in that upheaval. The dark comedy uses an increasingly destructive feud to examine ambition, status and the stories people tell about their own importance.
