Carmen expects to follow a familiar path: marriage, children and a place within the close Romani community where she has grown up. Lola imagines a different future, one that includes studying, drawing and loving a woman. When they meet, their attraction begins to unsettle what each has been told is possible. The relationship develops in streets, markets and private moments where a little freedom must be found inside lives that are closely observed. Arantxa Echevarría’s drama follows both the excitement of recognising someone and the pressure of deciding what that recognition might cost. Neither girl can simply step outside her family or her community. Their love story grows through that tension between belonging to the world they know and wanting a life it has not prepared for them.
