Sascha has worked in a Berlin brothel for years when Maria arrives with an unfamiliar confidence and an independent way of moving through the world. Attraction between the women grows amid waiting rooms, shifts and encounters with clients, creating an intimacy distinct from the transactions surrounding them. Outside work, each maintains connections to a different life, and those obligations complicate the possibility of being together. Henrika Kull’s drama follows the relationship through its ordinary moments as well as its uncertainty, giving the women room to want affection, independence and recognition at the same time. Their connection asks what it would mean to carry a private sense of freedom beyond the place where it began.
