Lena has finished school and is thinking about travel, study and the larger life waiting beyond her family home. Then her brother brings Eva into the household. Older, apparently more assured and soon a familiar presence around the house, Eva attracts Lena’s attention in ways that complicate all those plans. Their conversations become more private, and the possibility that the feeling might be mutual makes ordinary family routines newly difficult. Daniel Manns’s German romance follows the two women through the awkwardness of wanting something neither had expected to find. The question is no longer only how Lena will leave home, but how a relationship that began inside it might alter the future she thought she had already chosen.
