Nedjma knows the rules of her neighbourhood and the importance of remaining loyal to her friends. She moves through familiar streets with confidence, prepared to defend the group and the place she has made within it. Zina’s arrival in the building unsettles that certainty. Although connected to a rival circle, the new girl becomes someone Nedjma cannot stop thinking about, and the attraction exposes a vulnerability her usual toughness cannot hide. Marion Desseigne-Ravel’s coming-of-age drama follows the growing relationship between the two young women as neighbourhood loyalties and fear of discovery narrow their choices, making the possibility of first love both exhilarating and difficult to protect.
