After a painful breakup upends her plans, singer-songwriter Becks returns to her hometown and moves back in with her mother. Home offers somewhere to stay but little escape from old tensions, especially when her ambitions and sexuality meet her mother’s religious expectations. Music gives Becks a way to earn money and reconnect with people, and guitar lessons bring her closer to Elyse, a woman whose life appears more settled than her own. Their developing attraction complicates an already uncertain return. As Becks tries to rebuild a sense of direction, the film links creative frustration with the risks of intimacy, asking what it means to begin again in a place where everyone thinks they already know you.
