Joey is looking for a way out of a small Pennsylvania town where work and opportunity seem increasingly limited. Military service appears to offer direction, but her meeting with Rayna unsettles that plan. Rayna is older, married and raising children, with responsibilities that make their growing relationship difficult to separate from the lives around them. What begins as an unexpected attraction becomes a possible escape, though the women do not have equal freedom to act on their feelings. The film follows a romance shaped by economic pressure and conflicting obligations, asking what happens when the desire to leave a place becomes entangled with the desire to stay close to another person.
