Frieda invites a group of women to her family home in Goa, where a wedding announcement becomes the occasion for an exuberant reunion. As the friends relax together, their conversations expose frustrations with work, marriage, parenting and the roles they are expected to perform. Frieda’s relationship with Nargis gives the celebration a personal significance that reaches beyond the familiar rituals surrounding a wedding. The gathering creates space for affection and disagreement, with each woman bringing her own history into the house. Their solidarity is tested when the mood of the holiday changes and outside violence intrudes. This ensemble drama links the friends’ private choices to the wider constraints placed on women’s lives.
