Mary McArdle returns to Drogheda after a short prison sentence and finds that the people she remembers have moved on without her. Her best friend Charlene is preparing to marry, leaving Mary trying to recover a closeness that no longer works in quite the same way. Determined to find someone to accompany her to the wedding, Mary throws herself into a series of uncomfortable attempts at dating. Meeting Jess changes the terms of that search and brings feelings she has not been ready to acknowledge. The film follows a young woman whose defensive anger hides a more vulnerable struggle to accept change, recognize attraction and imagine a future beyond her old reputation.
