The Unspoken Name

Csorwe has been raised to become a sacrifice. On the day she is meant to surrender her life, a powerful wizard offers another possibility: leave her god and become his servant. Choosing survival leads her into a new existence as a fighter, spy and assassin, helping her rescuer pursue ambitions that stretch across strange worlds. The freedom she gains is real, but so are the obligations attached to it. When she falls in love with the mage Shuthmili, Csorwe must reconsider the loyalties that have structured her life. This opening Serpent Gates novel follows a young woman trying to distinguish devotion from debt in a world where gods, mentors and empires all expect a return on what they give.
