The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo

After decades of guarding her private life, Hollywood legend Evelyn Hugo is ready to tell her story. Her choice of biographer surprises everyone: Monique Grant, a journalist whose career and marriage have stalled. As Evelyn recalls her rise to fame, Monique discovers how little seven very public marriages reveal about the woman behind them. Ambition, friendship and a profound love for another woman complicate the glamorous image Evelyn spent a lifetime constructing. Moving between old Hollywood and Monique’s present, the novel follows two women negotiating the distance between public reputation and private truth, while the reason for Evelyn’s unusual invitation gradually comes into focus.
