The Mighty Heart of Sunny St. James

A heart transplant gives twelve-year-old Sunny St. James a chance to make a new plan for her life. She wants adventures, a best friend and a first kiss with a boy, all the things she imagines she has been missing. Meeting Quinn complicates the final item, making Sunny wonder whether she has misunderstood who she wants to kiss. The return of her estranged mother brings another kind of uncertainty into a summer already full of change. Ashley Herring Blake’s middle-grade novel follows recovery, friendship and emerging attraction, as Sunny discovers that having a new heart does not make family relationships or questions about herself any less complicated.
