The Awkward Truth

Corporate lawyer Felicity Simmons has organised her life around professional advancement and is close to earning a role she has long wanted. An assignment to investigate a South Bronx charity should be another opportunity to demonstrate her competence. Her employer's donation may have been mishandled, and Felicity intends to establish the facts efficiently. Instead, the charity's work with homeless people's pets introduces her to priorities she has rarely considered—and to a veterinarian whose directness and appeal are distinctly inconvenient. This romance follows an ambitious woman encountering a life outside the terms of her career plan. A companion to The Brutal Truth that can be read independently, it combines a modest mystery with the possibility of revising what success means.
