BETWEEN THE COVERS

The story

Julia is tired of her government job, her unsuccessful encounters with men, and the feeling that everyone else knows how to enjoy being young. An invitation to a warehouse party introduces her to Sam, a woman whose confidence opens a door Julia had not considered. Their relationship brings her into London's queer communities and gives her a new vocabulary for desire. The excitement is real, but so are the demands Sam begins to make. As Julia explores unfamiliar relationships and possibilities, she has to distinguish freedom from another person's control. Finding a place in queer life becomes inseparable from learning how to recognize and protect her own boundaries.
