How It Feels To Float
2019
BETWEEN THE COVERS
The story
Biz can keep herself looking ordinary even when her thoughts feel anything but manageable. She has her mother, younger siblings, friends, and Grace, whose kiss has complicated feelings Biz is still trying to understand. She also sees her father, although he died when she was seven. After an incident at the beach disrupts the fragile balance she has maintained, the familiar ways of coping begin to fail. Biz searches for connection and a way to make sense of grief that has become entangled with her mental health. This young-adult novel follows her uncertain movement through loss, attraction, and family history, with the people around her offering forms of support she may not yet know how to accept.
