TL;DR / THE SHORT VERSION

Give the scene-stealer her flowers.

Looknam Orntara Poolsak is the actress behind Jim in GAP, Prik in The Loyal Pin, Pok in Somewhere Somehow and Bua in The Air and The Fire. She sings, too. Here is where to start with her work.

Is it for you?

For the viewers who keep asking “who is that friend?” — and anyone curious about the performer behind the punchline.

Spoiler-light: includes a comic moment from GAP. Video and episode availability varies by country.

The leads are falling in love. Looknam is making sure someone has thought about the nails.

If you know Looknam Orntara Poolsak as Jim in GAP: The Series, you probably know exactly why she deserves this spotlight. Thai GL has given us plenty of beautiful women gazing at each other across a room. It also needs the woman who can walk into that room, puncture the tension and make the whole thing funnier.

Our position: Looknam has some of the best comic timing in Thai GL. She deserves the same enthusiasm we give the couples on the poster.

Jim in GAP: someone had to mention the nails

In GAP: The Series, Looknam plays Jim, one of Sam’s close friends. And yes, we are giving proper recognition to the moment she tells Mon and Sam to deal with their nails. Two women trying to work out intimacy; one friend willing to address the practicalities. Thank you for your service, Jim.

The joke works because Jim sees the practical problem while Mon and Sam are busy having enormous feelings. Looknam makes that interruption feel affectionate. Her friend is helping them; their inexperience happens to be very funny.

The Loyal Pin: put some respect on Prik’s name

In The Loyal Pin, she plays Prik alongside Freen Sarocha and Becky Armstrong. Prik is clever, outspoken, talkative and fond of food—the sort of character who arrives with her own priorities. The contemporary cast guide is a useful introduction.

That is what a romantic ensemble needs: someone with opinions, an appetite and a reason to interrupt. Looknam’s characters help the world continue to exist around the central couple.

FayMay fans know her too

Looknam’s GL credits also include My Marvellous Dream Is You and Somewhere Somehow, both starring Fay Kanyaphat and May Yada. Her presence across those shows is another reason to look beyond a single pairing when following Thai GL performers.

In Somewhere Somehow, she plays Pok. The episode 2 preview gives her a scheme to bring Kee and Peem together, exaggerated injury included. Your friends are being stubborn, so apparently you must become the entire romance department.

Looknam in Four Elements: meet Bua

In 2026, she plays Bua in The Air and The Fire. North Star’s official character feature gives Bua—and the actress behind her—a proper introduction.

The promotional interview is a lovely little companion to this spotlight. Its official English subtitles give us Looknam’s cheerful declaration: “I’m beautiful—being an actress is obviously the right path for me!” The confidence. The delivery. Please keep the camera on her.

Those are the two Four Elements instalments included in this watchlist.

And yes, she sings

There is another part of the Looknam introduction worth making time for. In a 2023 interview about her debut single Rak Tong Mu, she described growing up with luk thung music and entering singing competitions as a child. The contemporary luk thung release was a return to music she knew from an early age.

She also sings on the Somewhere Somehow soundtrack: ฟอร์มจัด (แต่รักนะ). Between the series roles and the music, there is a much fuller artist to discover than a collection of funny reaction clips.

For an earlier credit outside a GL-led series, she also plays Som in Secret Crush on You. This is a starting point for discovering her work, rather than a claim to be an exhaustive filmography.

What we want next: a role that makes full use of her

A comedy built around Looknam? We would be seated. So would a substantial romantic role that let her use that humour alongside vulnerability. Being excellent at comedy should open up opportunities to carry a story.

That is our wish list. For new casting announcements, follow Looknam’s own channels below.

Looknam has already given Thai GL something valuable: characters who can make a romance less polished, more chaotic and much more fun. Jim handled the nail emergency. The least we can do is give the actress her flowers.
